OYO: Ajimobi’s fate hangs in the balance as PDP wins all 4 LGs so far announcedIyiolastrings
The ambition of Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi may be hanging in the balance, as the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kola Balogun has won all the four local governments so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Ajimobi, is seeking to return to the Red Chamber to represent Oyo South, a seat he held before becoming governor in 2011.
According to the returning officer, Wole Akinsola, Ajimobi polled 8,916 votes in Ibadan Northwest local government areas while the PDP candidate got 12,144. In Ibarapa North and Ibarapa East local governments, Ajimobi polled 5,837 and 6,951 while PDP’s Balogun polled 8,083 and 9,982.
For Ibadan Also, Ibadan North local government the governor polled a total of 17,946 votes against the PDP candidate’s 18,690 votes.
The returning officer however said results from three polling units are missing in Ibadan North. They are PU 001 in Ward 008 and Agbowo Ward (Ward 012) in PU 025.
The returning officer also disclosed that the third unit is Unit 019 on Taiwo street in Sango area of Ibadan, where the presiding officer was said to have absconded.
Collation of results from the remaining five local government areas are still ongoing.
